Rep. Williams, Sen. Cotton Lead No Bailouts for Campus Criminals Act

“Violent campus protestors laughably demand respect, amnesty, and even takeout food. Our bicameral bill ensures that not one student protestor convicted of criminal offenses is bailed out by student loan forgiveness. Not one dime of taxpayer money will fund these criminals,” said Representative Williams.

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22) announced the introduction of the No Bailouts for Campus Criminals Act, in light of nationwide, anti-Israel protests across college campuses.

This bill, introduced in conjunction with legislation led in the Senate by Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas), would prohibit individuals convicted of a crime committed over the course of protests at colleges and universities from having student debt cleared by student loan forgiveness programs.

Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Steve Daines (R-Montana), Josh Hawley (R-Missouri), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Mississippi), James Risch (R-Idaho), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Tim Scott (R-South Carolina), Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama), Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina), and Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) are co-sponsoring the companion legislation introduced in the Senate.

“Americans who never went to college or responsibly paid off their debts shouldn’t have to pay off other people’s student loans. They especially shouldn’t have to pay off the loans of Hamas sympathizers shutting down and defacing campuses,” said Senator Cotton.
