Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22), sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas regarding the migrant crisis in New York State and the proposed relocations into Central New York.
Rep. Williams was joined by Member’s of the NY Congressional Delegation in signing onto the letter, including House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (NY-21), Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04), and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11): “We are gravely concerned that recent decisions made by New York State government officials to transport illegal migrants into our communities without the consent or coordination of local government will have profound consequences for our region,” Congressman Brandon Williams wrote. “We believe that New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York Governor Kathy Hochul are doing an egregious disservice to their offices and to the people of New York, particularly to the people of Upstate New York, by dictating mandates to our local governments to accept illegal migrants into our communities.” The letter lists out questions, urging a response within 30 days:
