Rep. Williams Joins Introduction Of Building Chips In America Act

Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22), announced the introduction of the Building Chips in America Act of 2023, a bipartisan and bicameral bill to maximize the opportunity to bring microchip manufacturing back to America while maintaining bedrock environmental protections for clean air and water.
With the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act, semiconductor supply chain companies, like Micron, have announced plans to invest hundreds of billions in new domestic manufacturing projects throughout the country. The Building Chips in America Act will ensure federal reviews under NEPA are expedited and completed in a timely manner to streamline projects, while ensuring the environment is protected. The authorities granted under this bill will more effectively and efficiently implement the CHIPS and Science Act, maximizing and boosting domestic manufacturing of microchips, enhance domestic supply chains, lower overall costs, and bolster our national security. “The Building Chips for America Act will be a monumental win for Central New York and the Mohawk Valley—expediting construction locally so we can begin semiconductor manufacturing, expand long-term projects, and bring back good paying jobs to our community. Standing with Rep.
