Rep. Williams Applauds Multi-Billion Dollar Chips & Science Act Award to Micron

“Congratulations to Ryan McMahon, Senator Schumer, the folks at CenterState, and many others who have dedicated so much to make this happen,” said Rep. Williams. During his time in Congress, Rep. Williams has been an active advocate for this facility’s construction in his capacity as a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and House Education and Workforce Committee, as a supporter throughout the process of applying for Central New York’s Tech Hub Designation from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), and in communication with Mayor Walsh, County Executive McMahon, the Army Corps of Engineers, and representatives from Micron as this project has developed.

SYRACUSE — Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22) issued the following statement in response to the announcement that over $6,000,000,000 was awarded to Micron in a preliminary agreement under the Chips & Science Act to build the largest leading-edge memory semiconductor fabrication facility in America:


“Here we go! Now we just need the permits to start shoveling and building our future. After countless meetings, hearings, inquiries, and advocacy, we’re getting things moving for NY-22,” said Congressman Brandon Williams.
