Rep. Williams Announces Annual Congressional Art Competition

  • Congressional Art Competition

Syracuse, NY — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22), announced the annual Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

About the competition:
Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

“This year, I am excited to announce that New York’s 22nd Congressional District will be participating in the annual Congressional Art Competition,” said Congressman Williams. “This is an opportunity for our young artists grades 9-12 to showcase their talents and have national recognition for their work. The winner of New York’s 22nd Congressional District will have their entry on full display in the U.S. Capitol for one year and will be personally invited to Washington, D.C. for a reception honoring artists from across the country.”

Entries must be delivered to the Congressman’s Utica or Syracuse District Office by Monday, April 24th at 5:00PM.
