Rep. Williams’ Marks 100th Day In Office With UNANIMOUS PASSAGE Of His First Piece Of Legislation

Rep. Williams became the first New York freshman to PASS a sponsored piece of legislation on the House Floor.

Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22), marked his 100th day since being sworn into the 118th Congress. Marking the occasion, the Congressman’s resolution (H.Res.240) condemning actions taken by the Russian military to down a United States Air Force drone, passed on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously.

 

“Russia continues to act in an irresponsible and reckless manner on the world stage. Now, the Russian military has directly interfered with a United States Air Force drone acting lawfully in international airspace,” said Congressman Williams. “This resolution categorically condemns the Russian military’s actions and expresses that any attempt by the Russians to recover our drone is a threat to U.S. national security.”

Background - H.Res.240 - Condemning Russian Aggression

In H.Res.240, the resolution resolves that the U.S. European Command disseminated footage which confirmed two individual Russian Su-27 fighter jets downed a U.S. Air Force drone over international airspace, in accordance with international law.

 

Resolved that these two Russian fighter jets recklessly released fuel and hit the drone, resulting in a crash-landing in the Black Sea. This resolution goes to specifically resolve that this is a strict condemnation of actions taken by the Russian military and recognizes that Russia threatened U.S. national security in attempting to recover the U.S. military drone.
