Rep. Williams' Office Successful In Relocation of NY-22 Residents Out Of Sudan

Rep. Williams' office aided NY-22 constituents in need of emergency services as they sought to flee the violence in Sudan, successfully getting a married couple out of harm's way.

Syracuse, NY — Today, Congressman Brandon Williams (NY-22), is relieved to announce the safe relocation of a married couple from Rome, NY, who were on orders from the United Nations in Sudan. On April 22, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum suspended operations, and the Department of State ordered the departure of U.S. direct-hire employees and eligible family members due to the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan.

The couple assisted in relocation are now in Nairobi, safe and well. For their continued safety, we are not releasing their names until they are safely at home in the United States.

“I am pleased to announce that my office successfully assisted in the safe relocation of a couple from Rome, NY out of Sudan. We will continue to monitor their health and well-being until they have made it home,” said Rep. Brandon Williams. “As the armed conflict continues, my office remains on high-alert, ready to aid and assist Central New York and Mohawk Valley constituents in need of relocation services.”

Brandon Williams is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for New York’s 22nd Congressional District. Brandon is a naval veteran, having served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer, is an entrepreneur, and a devoted husband and father. He currently resides in Central New York with his wife of over 30 years and their dog Beatrice.
