It's my hope that you and your family had a joyous observance of Easter yesterday. Indeed, the truth which Easter calls to mind should give us hope and comfort every day of the year.

As for this week's newsletter, while I was in our district this week, my staff and I met with local officials and community members, and we visited the sites of five of the projects my office requested funding for through the Consolidated Appropriations Act.

Additionally, I joined Representatives across New York in enjoining Defense Secretary Austin to recapitalize America's fleet of LC-130H planes and writing Governor Hochul about existing permitting regulations that are holding back our state's economy.

A Message from Rep. Brandon Williams:

Our 22nd Congressional District encompasses all of Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties, and a sliver of Oswego County. As always, I am working to support families in CNY and the Mohawk Valley, improve our local infrastructure, grow manufacturing, and rein-in energy costs through common sense engineering and business practices. As a Navy Veteran, I stand with and for our veterans. I am protecting Social Security and Medicare for our elderly, and I always speak up for our law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders.

Rep. Williams recognizes National Vietnam War Veterans Day

On Friday, our country recognized National Vietnam War Veterans Day, in honor and remembrance of those who served and their families. The millions of Vietnam War veterans, including those who were held as prisoners of war and personnel listed as M.I.A., are in our thoughts. Their sacrifice is not forgotten.

Stefanie's father, Col. Marshall McRee, who passed away five years ago, is one such veteran. Over the course of his service, which included two tours in Vietnam, he earned three Bronze Stars with a V for valor.

Additionally, Monday marked National Medal of Honor Day, which Congress recognized beginning in 1991 as a means of fostering public appreciation for Medal of Honor Recipients. The 63 recipients who are still with us today remind us of the thousands of their predecessors whose valor in service and sacrifice likewise went above and beyond the call of duty.

Rep. Williams visits sites of community projects in NY-22

Earlier last week, I was able to visit five of the community projects which my office requested funds for through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which passed through the House of Representatives with a margin of 286-134.

These included an elevated water storage tank and pump station in Skaneateles, the Museum of Science and Technology, the Syracuse Police Department, the Whitelaw Water District Project in Chittenango, and the Robert Street Sanitary Sewer Project in Canastota. Representatives from each of these projects worked with my staff to submit applications to the House Appropriations Committee for congressional funding. We were ultimately able to secure $20.5 million for twelve projects in NY-22.

Rep. Williams meets with community members in NY-22

Additionally, I was able to join FFA members at VVS Central School for their annual Maple Weekend, including their Tree Tapping Ceremony. The impressive leadership and skills training they're receiving through this program will benefit our community for years to come! It was a joy to meet and speak with these students and the other attendees.

Likewise, I spoke with the award-winning Chittenango High School VEX robotics team, which has competed at the national and international levels on behalf of their community. They have bright futures ahead of them in STEM!

Reps. Williams and Garbarino write to Gov. Hochul on permitting regulations

Earlier this week, I joined Representative Garbarino in a letter to Governor Hochul urging reform in the current system of excessive permitting regulations, which have discouraged companies and investors from investing in New York.

We can reform the current system in a way that strengthens our economy while maintaining important environmental protections.

Rep. Williams urges recapitalization of LC-130H planes, joins 12 NY Reps.

I also joined twelve New York Representatives in a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urging the recapitalization of aging LC-130H planes operated by the New York Air National Guard. We rely on them to transport equipment and supplies throughout the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

These planes are a vital part of America's ability to maintain presence and project strength in a strategically relevant region in which Russia and the PRC continue to advance their interests.
