Wasteful Government Spending:
In the lead up to debt ceiling negotiations and agreements, I felt it was important to call out instances of wasteful government spending, proving a point that there is more than enough room to reduce overall spending, while protecting our veterans and seniors.
Some cases of ridiculous misuses of our taxpayer dollars:
- $140,000,000 in COVID relief funds were used to build a luxury hotel... complete with 30,000-square-feet of pool decks, a rooftop bar, and an 11,000-square-foot spa and gym
- $168,000,000 was used in 2021 to help illegal immigrants avoid deportation with taxpayer funded legal representation
- $1,700,000,000 in taxpayer funds spent to maintain EMPTY Federal office buildings
- $3,000,000 in taxpayer funds spent to watch HAMSTERS fight on steroids
- $28,000,000 in taxpayer funds were spent on military camouflage uniforms that DO NOT actually camouflage our military where they were stationed
- $192,592 in taxpayer funds spent on ESPRESSO machines for the DoD
I urged the President to help us raise the debt ceiling, WHILE reducing wasteful government spending.

Debt Ceiling Negotiations:
After 97 days of refusing to negotiate, President Biden finally came to the table to begin negotiations over raising the debt ceiling. A non-negotiable for House Republicans was to ensure we become fiscally responsible and reduce spending where possible WHILE protecting veterans and seniors.
A tentative agreement has been reached where we will RAISE the debt ceiling, while REDUCING wasteful government spending.
More than 60% of Americans agree, if you are to negotiate on the debt ceiling, it should be paired with reducing overall spending so that we can get our country back on track.
Here are some of the items that have been negotiated:
- Stopping out-of-control spending by limiting our budgets annual growth to 1%
- Lifting Americans out of poverty by implementing work requirements for SNAP recipients
- Clawing back Un-allocated COVID funds, saving tens of billions of taxpayer dollars
- Cutting red tape by reforming permitting processes for projects like Micron
- Slashing the funding for new IRS agents
- Restarting student loan repayments, saving $5 billion per month
- PROTECTING our veterans and seniors by fully funding veteran programs and preserving Social Security and Medicare
- Blocking all new taxes when President Biden wanted to impose $5 trillion in new taxes

Combatting New York's 'Stupidest Law':
Last week, I announced the introduction of my bill, the Infrastructure Expansion Act. This legislation would exclude federally funded projects from Scaffold Laws — widely seen as New York's 'stupidest law.'
Scaffold Law's are duplicative, as we have safety requirements and boards that ensure the safety of workers. The scaffold law is estimated to add up to $10,000 to the cost of a single-family home. With Micron coming to the area, this is more important than ever. My bill will make it easier for us to build out the housing stock we need.
