We’re finally open for business! On Tuesday, the Syracuse and Utica district offices welcomed hundreds of the constituents of New York’s 22nd congressional district for our open house celebration and swearing-in ceremonies. Tuesday marked the official start of our constituent relations. On behalf of our entire staff, we’re looking forward to working on the ground in NY-22 for the residents of Central New York and Mohawk Valley in Washington, D.C.!

The Syracuse office featured a ceremonial swearing-in by the newly sworn-in New York State Supreme Court Justice Kevin Keuhner. There, I spoke with Syracuse Chief of Police Joe Cecile and other members of the Syracuse Police for more detailed about the tragic drive-by shooting of 11-year old Brexialee Torres-Ortiz.

We celebrated the opening of our brand-new Utica office with a swearing-in ceremony by newly sworn-in New York State Supreme Court Justice Julie Denton Grow. There, I met Oneida County Executive Anthony Piacente Jr with my Director of Community Relations John Salka.

This week, I was selected by my colleagues in the House Steering Committee to join the prestigious House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Under Chairman Sam Graves's leadership, we will strive to improve our nation's infrastructure, address the fight for energy independence, and improve the day-to-day lives of all Americans. I am honored and humbled by this appointment, and I look forward to bringing your concerns to this distinguished committee, including supporting the Interstate 81 project in Syracuse and infrastructure related to Micron Technology's manufacturing project. I have also been selected to serve on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. After serving as a nuclear submarine officer in the Navy, and founding a software company in my private life, I am eager to bring my experience in this field to Congress. I look forward to working with Chairman Frank Lucas and my colleagues on the committee to work towards regulatory reforms in the technology industry, bringing science jobs home to our great nation, and combatting intellectual property theft from China. On Thursday, I toured Syracuse University's campus and the National Veterans Resource Center with Chancellor Kent Syverud and Vice-Chancellor Michael Haynie. We discussed the increasing rate of young adults entering the military to help paying for school. The National Veterans Resource Center has helped several veterans secure jobs and foster long-lasting relationships.
