Hi Folks!
This past month I have been on the road across the district meeting constituents, businesses, manufacturing facilities, and organizations to love and serve our local communities. I also traveled across the country to better learn of ways to make the lives of us and our neighbors easier, less costly, and safer.
As many of you know, I have also been recovering from heart bypass surgery performed at St. Joseph's in Syracuse, and I am thrilled to say that I am feeling great. It was not an easy path to recovery, but I am feeling better than ever and happy to announce that post-recovery, I have been on the move and working everyday for our district.
In the month of August, Congress goes on "Recess"—normally a time for Members to take some time off and go on vacation with their families. But there is too much at stake and the issues too large in scale for me to take time off.
Here is a snapshot of what I did this past month: - 10-day CODEL researching ways to lower the cost of energy
- Announced nearly $21 million in NY-22 funding passed out of Committee
- Met with Town Supervisors from across NY-22
- Toured JMA Wireless with Speaker McCarthy
- Invited my full staff from DC, Syracuse, and Utica for an in-district staff retreat
- Toured manufacturing plants and facilities in the district
- Met with local not-for-profit leaders
- Spoke at Armed Forces Day at the Fair and honored our Veterans

A Message from Rep. Brandon Williams:
Our 22nd Congressional District encompasses all of Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties, and a sliver of Oswego County. As always, I am working to support families in CNY and the Mohawk Valley, improve our local infrastructure, grow manufacturing, and rein-in energy costs through common sense engineering and business practices. As a Navy Veteran, I stand with and for our veterans. I am protecting Social Security and Medicare for our elderly, and I always speak up for our law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders.

On August 2nd, my medical team gave me clearance to resume work as usual and gave me the go ahead to go on an official Congressional Delegation (CODEL) to the West Coast, touring Department of Energy National Labs.

Congratulations to Morse Manufacturing on their 100th anniversary! My office attended the celebration at their drum handling equipment facility in Syracuse.
Since 1923 Morse Manufacturing has been "The Specialist in Drum Handling Equipment." They provide 55-gallon drum handling solutions, such as hand drum trucks, mobile drum handlers, and forklift attachments including heavy-duty models.

As the Energy Subcommittee Chairman, I joined Oversight and Investigations Chairman Rep. Obernolte in sending a letter to Secretary Jennifer Granholm on conflicts of interest and public disclosure requirements at the Department of Energy (DOE).
The letter follows one sent in April regarding reports that hundreds of DOE employees hold stocks and other assets related to the agency’s work, despite receiving notice from ethics officials regarding likely violations.
In this letter, Rep. Obernolte and I raised Granholm’s failure to disclose ownership of stocks in Ford until just before DOE announced a $9.2 billion loan commitment with BlueOval SK LLC – a joint venture between Ford and a Korean battery company.

The “Badge for Military Merit,” created over 240 years ago by George Washington, is our nations oldest military award.
On National Purple Heart Day, we remembered and honored the more than 1.9 million members of the military who were wounded or killed in action and their families.

Two years ago, Biden recklessly abandoned Bagram Airfield, then abandoned our troops and allies in Kabul. He turned over billions of dollars and weapons into the hands of the Taliban.
13 American sons and daughters in service to this great nation died. Biden failed us then and he’s failing us now. We must acknowledge and recognize these failures and commit to never letting this happen again.

In sending me to DC, the people of Central New York and the Mohawk Valley made their objective clear—govern effectively and fight for our local communities. I am delivering on that mission. In this year's Appropriations process, my primary focus has been ensuring we bring back as many federal dollars as possible to fund critical projects across our region. With the approval of 12 out of the 15 funding requests I submitted, nearly $21,000,000 was approved out of committee for NY-22.
These approved requests are aimed at enhancing public safety, increasing accessibility to clean drinking water, investing in new stormwater management systems, bolstering low-income education opportunities, funding main street economic development projects, and enhancing transportation safety and efficiency including significant investments at Syracuse Hancock Airport to further improve its facilities and services.
Delivering Transformational Funding $5,000,000 - Solvay-Geddes Connective Corridor $3,000,000 - Comprehensive De-Icing Rehabilitation $3,000,000 - Syracuse Airport Checkpoint Expansion $2,806,857 - Discovery Center of Science and Technology Classroom $1,858,000 - Andrews Road Elevated Water Storage Tank and Pump Station $1,000,000 - City of Syracuse Police Department’s COPS Cameras $1,000,000 - NYS Route 12B Water Main Replacement $1,000,000 - Lake Street Pump Station Improvements $1,000,000 - Whitelaw Water District $423,000 - Mobile Command Vehicle Replacement $260,000 - Robert Street Sanitary Sewer Project $220,000 - Town of Geddes Police Department Equipment Purchase

This month, I returned from a 10-day trip to the West Coast, visiting four Department of Energy research laboratories and speaking with private industry principals who are leading the charge toward commercial nuclear fusion. The trip follows my clearance by doctors to attend, after recovering from complications related to my recent heart bypass surgery.
Modernizing our electric power grid is vital for our national security and lowering the cost of energy.
Check out where I visited, here.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is wrapping its tentacles of espionage and influence around America’s schoolchildren. The U.S. needs to take bold steps to expel all CCP involvement from our educational institutions—especially our K-12 classrooms.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy joined me for a tour of JMA Wireless, the only American-owned 5G manufacturer in the United States. The Speaker recognized my efforts to spearhead policies in Congress to ensure America remains on the cutting edge of adopting and advancing 21st Century technology.
As was said at our joint press conference, this is about more than faster downloads or better streaming. 5G will revolutionize how we go to the doctor, how we grow our food, how we keep this nation safe from harm, and many other parts of our daily lives. Moreover, with the Chinese Communist Party using cheap wireless technology to gain a foothold in America and other nations, it is absolutely essential for America to lead in 5G and other wireless technology.
We must never surrender our technological future to the Chinese Communist Party.

Central New York and the Mohawk Valley have some of the best medical care providers in the nation. Touring Oneida Health Hospital reaffirmed that and I’m thankful they took the time to show me the services they provide for NY-22.

As a proud owner of Ferris Mowers, it’s a privilege to represent NY-22—home of Briggs and Stratton. Maintaining and bringing back manufacturing jobs to Central New York and the Mohawk Valley is critical to reviving the community we love.

America’s ONLY flatware manufacturer, Liberty Tabletop is in NY-22! They are investing in growth and automation—I was glad to get a guided tour of their facility and am proud to represent these folks in Congress, partnering with them to expand opportunities across the region.

It was a privilege to meet with John Tumino and staff from In My Father's Kitchen (IMFK).
I was blessed to hear about the vital work they do with the homeless through street outreach and to learn about their Hire Ground and Life House initiatives.
The Mission of IMFK is a world free from chronic homelessness, where individuals are fed, sheltered in safe housing and free from strongholds.

Thank you to the Food Bank of CNY for hosting me for a tour of their amazing facility.
Last year, the Food Bank provided more than 15 million meals to residents in their 11 county service area. As their mission states, they are leading the effort to eliminate hunger in our region.

Last week, I attended Armed Forces Day at the New York State Fair, surrounded by Veterans who honorably served our nation. As a Navy Veteran, it was an honor to speak with this group of heroes and thank them for their service.
Mike La Nasa and the Eagle Association of CNY put on a great event.
