On Friday, my Utica District Office served as the venue for community advocates and elected leaders across Oneida and Madison counties, as we came together to hold an autism awareness roundtable, to discuss our policy goals at the state and federal levels, and the ways we can most effectively collaborate.
I am especially grateful to Kathy Caruso of Better Together at Redeemer for her work in bringing everyone together, from Assemblywoman Buttenschon and Assemblyman Miller, to representatives from Senator Griffo's and County Executive Picente's Offices, to parent-advocates and local nonprofits. Her tireless work facilitating the roundtable was vital to its success.
We also discussed the Autism CARES Act, which I have cosponsored in the House of Representatives. The bill reauthorizes $2 billion in federal funding to go towards autism research.
