Hi Folks!


My team and I have spent this week all around NY-22, meeting with the community leaders, businesses, and local officials who make our district so great. It was great to hear directly from so many of you about the issues impacting you every day and how my office can contribute to our shared goals for Central New York.

A Message from Rep. Brandon Williams:


Our 22nd Congressional District encompasses all of Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties, and a sliver of Oswego County. As always, I am working to support families in CNY and the Mohawk Valley, improve our local infrastructure, grow manufacturing, and rein-in energy costs through common sense engineering and business practices. As a Navy Veteran, I stand with and for our veterans. I am protecting Social Security and Medicare for our elderly, and I always speak up for our law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders.
Rep. Williams Hosts Autism Awareness Roundtable in Utica
 

On Friday, my Utica District Office served as the venue for community advocates and elected leaders across Oneida and Madison counties, as we came together to hold an autism awareness roundtable, to discuss our policy goals at the state and federal levels, and the ways we can most effectively collaborate.


I am especially grateful to Kathy Caruso of Better Together at Redeemer for her work in bringing everyone together, from Assemblywoman Buttenschon and Assemblyman Miller, to representatives from Senator Griffo's and County Executive Picente's Offices, to parent-advocates and local nonprofits. Her tireless work facilitating the roundtable was vital to its success.


We also discussed the Autism CARES Act, which I have cosponsored in the House of Representatives. The bill reauthorizes $2 billion in federal funding to go towards autism research.

Problem Solvers Caucus Endorses H.R. 549
 

This week, the Problem Solvers Caucus announced its formal endorsement of H.R. 549, the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act.


As a member of the Problem Solver's Caucus, I am grateful that they have vocalized their support for this important legislation. I cosponsored H.R. 549 in April, along with 22 of my colleagues from New York.


The bill removes waiting periods to receive Medicare benefits and Social Security Disability Insurance for those diagnosed with MBC, as they often have a time-sensitive need for care.

Syracuse Zoo Hosts Fundraiser for Families of Fallen Officers
 

On Sunday, Syracuse "painted the zoo blue" at Rosamond Giffords Zoo to celebrate the lives of Lt. Michael Hoosock and Officer Michael Jensen, and I was honored to join. Proceeds from the event will support their families.


It was inspiring to see so many in our community come together for such a great cause, and I'm thankful to the organizers for planning this many months in advance.
Other Meetings Across NY-22
 

Throughout this week, my staff and I were able to join residents at Vinette Towers in Syracuse for a Seniors Luncheon and hear about the most important issues to them. We also visited with plant leadership at Hood Dairy in Oneida, met with the staff at the Oneida YMCA Branch, toured the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Liverpool, and I spoke with the Syracuse Post-Standard for a live Q/A session.
