Thank you for reading this week's wrap-up. It's been an eventful week in Washington and for our district, and there are a few things in particular that I'd like to put on your radar. As always, I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to serve CNY and the Mohawk Valley.

A Message from Rep. Brandon Williams:

Our 22nd Congressional District encompasses all of Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties, and a sliver of Oswego County. As always, I am working to support families in CNY and the Mohawk Valley, improve our local infrastructure, grow manufacturing, and rein-in energy costs through common sense engineering and business practices. As a Navy Veteran, I stand with and for our veterans. I am protecting Social Security and Medicare for our elderly, and I always speak up for our law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders.

Rep. Williams co-sponsors the College Cost Reduction Act

Student loan debt continues to hold back young professionals and families in CNY, resulting in a workforce that suffers from financial strain amidst economic uncertainty.

The College Cost Reduction Act holds colleges accountable for overcharging students, and it helps high-needs students afford their education with enhanced Pell Grant funding. If passed, this legislation would make it easier for kids growing up in our district to study, work, and raise a family in our district as well.

S.3250, the Meaningful Access to Court Proceedings for Victims of Pan Am Flight 103 Act, has now passed through both chambers of Congress and is on its way to President Biden's desk. This bill requires federal courts to make remote access to certain criminal court proceedings available for victims of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988.

35 Syracuse University students who spent the semester studying abroad tragically died in this attack.

I continue to pursue any and all avenues for justice and healing from this act of violence that affected the Syracuse community so deeply. I am proud to support this bipartisan bill to that end.

Rep. Williams and other Members of Congress stand with the Corbett Family

On Wednesday, I joined Rep. Claudia Tenney and other members of Congress to voice support for the family of Ryan Corbett, a New York man who has been wrongly detained by the Taliban for over 500 days.

His reported conditions are inhumane. He has committed no crimes and is a victim of outside conflicts. He must be returned home.

I'm grateful to Rep. Tenney and the bipartisan group that came together for the Corbett family. It's on us all in Congress to come together in the same way to bring Ryan home.
